Good day, I am a Pheasant Coucal and live mainly on the north and east coasts of Australia.  Althought I look like a Pheasant I am a member of the Cuckoo family.  Because of my colouring I can hide in the tall grass, scrubs, ground litter and dense under growth.

Overall I grow to a lenght of 60cm to 75cm (24 to 30 inches) when full size. When breeding I become darker (Black) in colour including my bill. 

I am a ground dweller and unlike other cuckoo's I make my own nest.

I am not a great flier and to reach the dizzy height of this roof I took a series of short flapping hops from the ground to a shrub and then to the roof. I can if required fly quite high.
